Just A Great Day

I know that I am seriously behind in writing on our blog and I will work to get it updated this week but I just wanted to quickly share what a great day we had yesterday. It started out like many great mornings, we got to sleep in. Around nine Myka and Adri woke up and came in to snuggle with me and Lance. So we snuggled in bed for a while then I got up to get the girls into the tub. They ran through the house gathering the assortment of toys that they wanted and when they got back into the bathroom they told me that I was the "awesomest mom ever!" I let them have bubbles. During their bath I told Adri that she needed to keep track of the tiny bird toy that she was playing with because it could go down the drain when I unplugged the tub. She responded by saying excitedly, "if it goes in the drain then the Ninja Turtles will find it." "Well yes, that's true. The Ninja Turtles do find things that go down the drains" I responded. Then Myka added "ya mom they will find it and bring it back to us." I have such smart daughters and we are obviously fans of the sewer dwelling Ninja Turtles. Who was I to say any different. Luckily we managed to keep the toy to ourselves.
After we all got ready for the day Lance and I dropped the girls off at my sisters house so that we could go to the Boise Idaho Temple dedication. It was wonderful! All of the speakers were great and I especially loved listening to Elder Bednar and of course President Monson. In our session Pres. Monson pointed right at a kid in the congregation and told the kid "I see a future missionary right there" and then Pres. Monson wiggled his ears. It made everyone laugh. I love listening to our prophet. Every time I hear him speak I feel lighter and am filled with the love that he has for us and that I return for him. And when everyone sang there was such conviction and everyone's voices were so strong. I wish that everyone would sing like that all of the time. I hate it in church when it seems like nobody is singing.
Well after we picked Adri and Myka back up we came back home and were lazy. We watched some Netflixs, we ate and just relaxed for a while. Then Myka decided that she wanted to play a game. So of course we were all game. We decided that playing dirt clod war sounded pretty good but we were inside and wouldn't really through dirt clods at each other, so the alternative was to make teams, create boundaries, divvy up our hoard of snow balls (big fluffy yarn balls that Lance and I made) and destroy each other. Lance and Myka against me and Adri. We had so much fun! We threw "snow balls" at each other for forever, we were all laughing, all getting pummeled with soft yarn balls and yelling back and forth. Myka would grab arm fulls of snowballs, through them, then go hide behind moosy, Adri was more focused on the one at a time approach and then hide behind the chair, Lance and I were out in the open and just trying to keep up. It was a blast! Adri and I won. At least that's my opinion. Don't ask Lance he'll say different.
When we all got calmed down and cleaned up our "ammo" we got the girls ready for bed and it was Lance's turn to read them stories. I love listening to Lance read to the girls. We've started reading them stories form the The Friend magazine at night along with their other books. It was great to listen to Lance teach the girls and explain after the story how we should treat people who are different than us and that even though they are different they are special just like us and we need to be nice to them and be their friend. After story time was over, prayers said and hugs and kisses all around Myka and Adri asked me if I would sing to them. Now those of you who know me, know that I am not the greatest singer but my daughters love it when I sing to them. So I sang some primary songs that they love and while I sang to my angels my heart was so full because it reminds me of all the hours that I sang to them when they were babies. After more kisses and one more prayer Myka and Adri were ready for bed.
I love my family more than I can say. Yesterday was a great day, most of our days are but I just wanted to share and write it down so that we can remember. Thanks to all for indulging me.
